Rispondo a un post di Samu raccontando una storia. Vera.
Seduta, nel corridoio dell’ospedale. Aspetti, impaziente. Il medico non ha accettato la delega per il ritiro degli esiti della colposcopia; ha detto che ti vuole parlare personalmente. Per motivi di privacy? Ripensi a un mese prima. Ti sembra passata un’eternità. Eri stesa sul lettino, a gambe larghe. Tesa. Scoprivano un certo “inspessimento della parete sinistra dell’utero“, del tuo utero. Che non ti aveva mai dato problemi. Bisognava indagarne la causa. Così, repentinamente, hai scoperto quanto fosse dolorosa una biopsia. Nessuna anestesia perché dura un attimo. Il tempo di prelevare un campione di tessuto. Un attimo eterno però. Il tempo di sentirti due lacrime scorrere sul viso e un urlo che non riesci a trattenere. Tutto é iniziato con l’invito di Prevenzione Serena a farti il Pap Test. Hai compiuto 25 anni: sei donna, é bene che tu sia consapevole della tua femminilità e di ciò che ne comporta… L’infermiera ti chiama, ti fa accomodare. Nome, cognome. Il ginecologo apre la tua cartella clinica. “Cellule anomale” le definisce. “Non per spaventarti, é un termine improprio, ma lasciandole lì, non si sa in cosa potrebbero trasformarsi. Benigno? Maligno? Tumore“. Una parola che hai già sentito un sacco di volte, ma che se pensi possa rosicchiare te, sembra abbia un altro suono. Più duro. Tu-mo-re. Ti rimbomba dentro e ti uccide all’istante. Certo che vuoi farti operare. Non desideri altro che liberarti di quelle “cellule anomale” e di tutta la paura che ti travolge. Ci impieghi giorni a capire. Intanto piangi. Ti senti vittima. Come é potuto succedere proprio a te? E’ successo perché facendo l’amore con un ragazzo (chissà con chi? chissà quando?) sei stata contagiata da un virus. Il tuo sistema immunitario, debole, non é riuscito a debellare l’intruso che si é insidiato nel tuo utero. L’inspessimento della parete é la difesa che l’utero si é creata. Quelle cellule? Ora sono lì, assopite. Quando la tua rabbia decanta, ti tranquillizi e realizzi che con una conizzazione risolverai il problema alla base. Seguiranno controlli periodici. Ti diranno l’identità certa di quel maledetto virus e se esiste un vaccino specifico per contrastarlo, nel caso lui avesse la testa più dura della tua.
E i maschi? Loro sono inconsapevolmente portatori sani. Punto. Ti possono stare accanto mentre affronti la situazione, ma nulla più. Dobbiamo incidercelo nella mente: la precauzione non é mai troppa, anche quando ci si fida del proprio partner. I controlli vanno fatti, talvolta possono essere di importanza vitale.
Non succede solo agli altri.

Grazie per la segnalazione, preparerò a breve qualcosa anche sul mio blog… perché tutti possano capire l’importanza dei controlli. Ho amiche che mi dicono (a 32 anni) “io non vado dal ginecologo perché ho paura che mi trovi qualcosa di anomalo” ed altre che (a 38 anni) non si sono mai fatte controllare perché… tanto non serve. La mentalità retrograda che ancora adesso ci portiamo dietro dalla generazione precedente, è un grande flagello in questo senso, perché dipinge il ginecologo come una figura “anomala”, un medico a cui ricorrere solo come estrema ratio. Del quale avere paura e davanti al quale vergognarsi. Io a mia moglie dico sempre “magari potessi avere io un’urologa che mi controlla tutti i mesi”
Ciao EstroVersa, mi ci sono rivista nella tua storia, è commovente. Alcune reazioni sono simili fra chi ha avuto la stessa malattia: “chi mi ha contagiato?” “devo stare più attenta”, etc.
Ma purtroppo anche col preservativo (e lode all’amico di lattice) il papilloma passa. Infatti a volte si annida nella gola.
L’unica, davvero, l’unica è fare il pap test almeno una volta all’anno, perché se scopri di avere il virus HPV (Human papilloma virus) te la puoi cavare con una cura antibiotica, o le prime cellule mutogene vengono bruciate con un intervento laser.
Sono emozionatissima per il tuo post, è difficile raccontare esperiznze cosi intime e dure, spero che grazie a i nostri racconti molte ragazze facciano del pap test una sana abitudine !
Per il vaccino attenzione: ancora non sappiamo se ci rende immuni da tutti i tipi di papilloma (circa 70), ed inoltre non perché saremo vaccinate bisognerà tralasciare il pap test, che tiene sotto controllo il nostro apparato riproduttivo da tantissime altre malattie.
